The stars fought from heaven; from their courses, they fought against Sisera.—Judges 5:20 | sermon by Father. Mungamuri Devadasu | Bible Mission

In the story from the Book of Judges, we are told that even the stars joined the battle. The stars fought on behalf of God’s people. This may sound mysterious, but it carries a profound truth: creation itself stands with the righteous. A righteous person may be in trouble, but they will rise again—because God, the Creator who ordains all things, stands on their side. There are important spiritual lessons here for our walk with Christ. Battles happen on the earth, yet the stars, which never descend to the ground, still fought in that war. How is that possible? The verse says, “They fought from their courses.” They did not come down—they fought from where they were.

In the Christian life, we too are engaged in a battle—a spiritual war against sin, Satan, temptation, and even death. But we are not alone. We must never think we are abandoned or unsupported. Just as the stars fought for Israel, God has placed unseen forces to help us. In our moments of weakness and conflict, He surrounds us with divine help.

The same God who made the stars to fight for Israel is with us now. We are not left to fight on our own. No matter how vast or powerful the enemy seems, the army that stands with us is greater. Like the sand on the seashore, the Lord’s host is innumerable. So, let us fight with confidence—knowing that heaven is not silent, and the One who commands the stars also fights for us.

O Christian, never think that you are fighting alone. If you have faith, help will come to you. If you lack faith, help may not reach you. But if you fall, those sent by God will lift you up. What does our Heavenly Father say in such moments? "He has fallen, and he is greatly wounded, but because he still has faith—go, lift him up." And so, He sends His heavenly armies to rescue you.

Our enemies dwell in the heavenly realms—invisible forces of darkness. Alongside them, we face famine, sin, disease, and many other trials. On our own, we cannot overcome these without the help of the heavenly hosts. Just as the Israelites had the stars of heaven fight for them, we have angels—heavenly helpers, who, like the stars, shine unseen and stand close beside us.

But to receive their help, faith is required. If there is no faith, the order to assist will not be given. If there is faith, they will come swiftly and raise us up. These angelic hosts are mighty. They do not fear death—and neither should we. Even in failure, the Christian must not fear. Even if defeat comes, the believer should not be afraid. No matter how many temptations come, we must never be afraid of perishing. Even if Satan is stronger than us, we should not fear—for our helpers are greater than him.

In fact, there are more angels than there are believers on the earth. They are wise and powerful. While Christians are pondering, “How can I fight this battle and win? How can I overcome this trial, this evil, this curse?”—the Holy Spirit and our Heavenly Father provide the answer. He gives us divine strategies. He helps us to see clearly what we must do.

Heaven’s Mighty Helpers: The Courage of Angels and the Power of Faith

Angels do not rush into battle without thought—they carefully consider and act with wisdom when helping us. As the Scripture says, “The Lord has helped us—praise Him!” Angels are fearless warriors, full of divine courage. Even if there are tens of millions of demons, angels have been given unmatched boldness as a gift. No matter how vast the army of the enemy is, they cannot stand before the angels of God. When we have faith, great courage rises within us. Even our enemies recognize our faith and tremble before it. Without courage, even physical strength is of no use. But when faith dwells within us, the forces of darkness cannot harm us.

In the Book of Revelation, it is written that “the armies of the earth tremble at the sight of the heavenly hosts.” Though we cannot physically see these heavenly armies right now, we can still see the radiance of their presence. And when needed, the armies of heaven can come to our aid in a single moment. This is the greatest comfort to those who believe.

Our enemies? They are already defeated. Why? Because Jesus Christ has already conquered them all—not for His sake, but for ours. He won the victory on our behalf. And now He calls out to us, saying, “Go forth with courage—you will surely overcome.” Victory was declared for us even before the battle began. That means even those who are yet to be born can share in this victory, if they believe.

What are the stars? Just as we plant crops and place a scarecrow to guard them, God, the Creator of heaven and earth, appointed angels as guardians over all creation. Even before the enemy appeared, God had already positioned His angels to watch over His handiwork. These guardian angels protect the stars, rivers, trees, animals, and even us. God has entrusted the care of creation to countless angelic hosts—heaven’s watchmen.

These very angels, assigned to the earth, once aided the Israelites in battle. They are clothed with brilliance and heavenly radiance, while the forces of the enemy dwell in darkness. But light always overcomes darkness. As Paul writes in Romans 13, we are called to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Sometimes people say, “If the moon hadn’t been out, we’d have been lost!” In the same way, the stars shone brightly, helping the Israelites see their enemies clearly. The angels, who watch over the stars and all creation, worked together to support God’s people. Just as they helped then, they continue to help today.

We are not alone. Jesus Christ, the angels, and the saints stand ready to help us. With such a heavenly host on our side, why should a believer fear death? The Bride of Christ has no fear of death—for death has been defeated. Believers who depart from this world will shine like radiant stars in the heavens.

Where did the stars fight from? From the heavens. In the same way, those who believe—wherever they are placed by God—can offer help, pray, and support. They may be far, but they can still draw near in spirit.

So, dear believer, no matter what trouble comes your way—do not fear. For the light is with you. The Lord is your help. His angels surround you. And heaven itself is fighting on your behalf.

Story of Hagar , Genesis 16:1-12; John 8:31-38, 57-59; Galatians 4:28-31 | sermon by Father.Mungamuri Devadasu

Hagar was Sarah’s maidservant. According to Sarah’s wishes, she bore a son for Abraham. However, this led to Sarah’s anger and resentment. Eventually, following Sarah’s command, Abraham sent Hagar and her son away with a skin of water and a small amount of food. She wandered aimlessly in the wilderness of Beersheba, lost and uncertain. Overcome with grief and despair, Hagar’s eyes were clouded with sorrow. Yet, having lived in Abraham’s household, she had developed an inner perception and the ability to listen. Likewise, her physical senses remained strong. The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, "God has heard the cry of the child; do not be afraid." Hagar’s Condition: She was cast out from Abraham’s household. She was wandering alone. She had no water in the wilderness. Amid these hardships, she was on the verge of death. Hagar’s story teaches us that "God’s help comes to us in our greatest distress." She was in deep despair, lost and withou...

Those who have needs, and the One who fulfills them – the Lord.

Sermon : "Those who have needs, and the One who fulfills them – the Lord." Ezekiel 17:24; John 14:14; Romans 4:21 Beloved ones who have many needs—may you be filled with satisfaction and peace! The theme of today’s sermon is: "Those who have needs, and the One who fulfills them – the Lord." To illustrate this, I present two sides before you: the right side with one stack, and the left side with another. Before we begin the sermon, let me say this—there are 66 books in the Bible, but I will highlight only four of them: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Although written by four different people, all four books focus on one story—the life of Jesus Christ . It is not four different accounts, but one united message. Now, the truth I want to emphasize is this: every person in the world has some needs —things they have not yet received, experienced, or possessed. Among these needs: 1. The First Need: "I want to see God." This desire was not present in...
